The envelope of the building is where inside meets outside and while it shields you from the elements is also attemtps to insulate you and mitigate energy loss. We have come to understand a lot about how to build better building envelopes but in practice, there remains a lot of room for improvement

Comfy Building SkinsTM

There are a plethora of options to retrofit existing buildings, and the payback on the right solutions is positively heart warming. To begin with, the in’flector is usually the most effective solution for windows. The payback is typically 5 years or less, depending on the exact condition and orientation of your building, and in almost all cases, there is no need for replacement windows, unless your window sashes are rotting out of your facade.

Those holes in your wall… you call them windows. Everybody has them, and nobody does anything about them. Replacement windows typically have a 20 year payback, but our see-through, reflecting thermal shades typically have about a 3-5 year payback, and by eliminating air infiltration, and heat gain, people feel more comfortable right away. The reduction in thermal loads is typically 20-40%

In short, In’flector takes care of the biggest thermal leak in your building. Obviously, the walls are another area of challenge and it may not always be easy to retrofit insulation, but we provide a systems approach of high-emissivity coatings that can directly block up to 80% of the heat loss through the walls. Additionally, we can keep your roof cool as well, using the same technology. If you are planning any solar panels, using our coating system underneath the solar panels, you will improve performance of the panels by 10-20%, even on top of reducing the thermal load of the building by up to 10-12%.

Estimating and Quantification

For high-rise buildings and large campuses, we can provide a complete survey and quantification of the payback for different improvements in the building skin. For low-rise buildings we can usually do more informal building surveys, or if circumstances indicate it, we can have a formal survey done as well.

Combining these various factors, we can estimate reductions in the thermal loads of 20-80%, wiht a payback usually in the 3-5 year range.
